Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu: About 1.2 kg of gold, abandoned in a domestic flight that arrived in Tuticorin from Chennai, was seized by customs officials today.
According to officials, the flight that originated from Colombo in Sri Lanka landed at Chennai before it arrived in Tuticorin. The abandoned gold was found in a bag beneath a seat.
Officials suspect that the gold was likely to have been smuggled from Colombo to Tamil Nadu. Further investigations are on, a top customs official said.
